Abstract: Phytochemical investigation of the leaves andflowers fromSalvia hirsutaled to the isolation of thefivemicrophyllane-type diterpenoids (1e5), and twoflavones (6e7). Hirsutolides constituted new diterpe-noids containing a 5-hydroxyfuran-2(5H)-one and were isolated as an epimeric mixture at C-3 and C-15.The structures of the isolated compounds were established through the analysis of their NMR spectro-scopic and MS spectrometric data; and confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Cytotoxicand MDR modulatory activities of compounds1-5 were determined.
